Mrs. Sunny Ahrens began her teaching tenure at Campbell Christian School in 2004. She holds a Bachelor’s of Music degree specializing in Music Education from the Hartt School of Music in Connecticut. Mrs. Ahrens is a seasoned veteran with experience teaching vocal and instrument ensembles for pre-K through eighth grade. We are very excited about the musical background and expertise she brings to CCS.
Mrs. Celeste Gaither teaches P.E. for grades 4-8 and has a Bachelor of Science degree from San Jose University. She is a NASM certified personal trainer and youth exercise specialist. She joined our staff after years of active parent involvement, including PTF president/treasurer, Scrip Coordinator, and Crab Feed co-chair. Her sons began attending CCS preschool in 2005. She is excited to share her love of health and fitness with the students.
Mrs. Paty Gonda-Sayre teaches 7th and 8th grade Spanish. She was born in Mexico City, and was educated in a bilingual school until the age of 16. She is fluent in both Spanish language and culture. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, with over 15 years of experience. Her teaching experience of 16 years encompasses a large age range (K-12), mainly in the forms of individual tutoring and small group courses in a variety of subjects and settings. Mrs. Sayre has two adult children, one a published author, the other a Mechanical Engineer. She and her family have been long time members of the Campbell Church of Christ.
Miss Grace Hall teaches composition, language arts, visual rhetoric and multimodal composition for grades 6-8. She has previously taught composition and rhetoric courses at Abilene Christian University and Georgia State University, and has extensive experience as a university writing center tutor. Ms. Hall holds a B.A. and M.A. in English Literature from Abilene Christian, where she was also the Assistant Director of the Writing Center. Campbell Church of Christ is her current home congregation, but she has also been blessed to be part of the church family at the Minter Lane and Northlake churches of Christ in Abilene, TX and Decatur, GA, respectively. In her free time, Ms. Hall enjoys rock climbing, swing dancing, making her nieces laugh, reading, volunteering at Daybreak Camp, screaming herself hoarse at Sharks' games, and discussing in great depth the brilliance of Marvel comics and films.
Mr. Jason Hansen teaches Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Bible, Journalism, and Servant Leadership classes in the Junior High at CCS. Mr. Hansen has been a member of the Church of Christ his entire life and currently attends Central Church of Christ with his wife Janelle. They actively search for ways to respond to God’s calling of service as they teach and mentor the youth at their church to help them develop a firm foundation in the Bible. Mr. Hansen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Jose State University. Professionally, he has taught Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 5th-7th grade in both public and private schools, while teaching Preschool through 12th grade at his church and as a private tutor. He has also served as the Extended Care Director at CCS for the past two years. Mr. Hansen and his wife enjoy singing, going to the theater, camping, and spending time with family and friends. He is excited to share his love for the Lord with students and parents at CCS.
Mrs. Catherine Hickinbotham joined the CCS staff as our librarian in 2005. Previously, Mrs. Hickinbotham worked as a teacher's aide in our preschool and as a substitute teacher in the Elementary School. Mrs. Hickinbotham has a degree in Liberal Studies from San Jose State University. She has a love for children as well as the hope that the students of CCS will become independent, life-long readers. Her daughter attends CCS and her son is a graduate.
Mrs. Rhonda Jose began teaching at CCS in 1999 and brings an enthusiasm and sense of humor to our school and art education program. She graduated from California State University in Chico with a degree in Social Sciences. Both of her children are graduates of CCS. She continues to inspire and challenge her students, creating a dynamic and fun art education program for CCS.
Mrs. Jane Kim teaches 7th grade pre-algebra, history, English Language Arts / Literature as well as 5th grade mathematics. Mrs. Kim graduated with her Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from San Jose State University. She has taught preschool and 1st - 6th grade in both public and private schools. Mrs. Kim and her husband Richard recently had a baby boy and attend Westgate Church in Saratoga. They also enjoy the outdoors, local eateries and visiting with friends and family as often as possible. Mrs. Kim loves teaching and wants children to learn academically as well as to grow into the unique individuals as God has created them to be. She is thrilled to be a part of CCS where she can utilize the latest in classroom technology, rely on the strong support from teachers and staff, and engage with involved parents who take an active interest in their child's education. Her classroom is designed to be a safe and cheerful place where she promotes a feeling of inclusiveness and instills a passion for learning and academics.
Miss Vanessa Long graduated on Honor Roll from Lipscomb University in 2011. She completed her Multiple Subjects in December 2015. She has worked with Embark Labs to teach students from Kindergarten through High School about computer programming and coding. Vanessa's interests include running, graphic design, and all things Star Wars. She is excited to be teaching computers at CCS and hopes the students will share her passion for technology.
Mr. Jordan Smith teaches Science, Pre-Algebra as well as a Digital Media elective. He holds a Masters of Science in Forensic Science from the Ecole des Sciences Criminelles in Lausanne, Switzerland and has been teaching Mathematics at the International School of Geneva, where he was also a member of the Learning Support Program that cared for SEN students. He and his wife, Annie, one of our 4th grade teachers, have just moved to Campbell from Switzerland and attend the Campbell Church of Christ. Mr. Smith is very excited to have the privilege of teaching Science from a Christ-centered and focused worldview and hopes to help his students come to further appreciate the majesty of God through the study of His creation and the laws and principles that hold them together. Mr. Smith is an avid reader of fantasy novels, enjoys table-top miniature games, obscure card games and playing board games with his wife.
