Infant/Toddler Program

Our infant/toddler program consists of two rooms, one for infants and one for toddlers. The total daily capacity for the two rooms is 24 students; however, we limit the infant program to 8 babies daily and the toddler program to 16 toddlers daily. These bright rooms include decorative murals, play stations, age appropriate soft climbing blocks, and other age appropriate toys. Toddler students sleep on mats and infants sleep in heavy duty cribs upgraded with emergency mobile bracing in case of fire or earthquakes. All students can be seen and heard while sleeping, even when in the cribs. An age appropriate outside poured in place rubber and artificial turf play area is available to the infant and toddler students and teachers. Inside the classrooms the teachers have changing tables, microwaves (out of reach from the students), a sink (also out of reach of students), and locked storage facilities.

Learning

Our facility is complemented by soft soothing colors. Child-size toys and furniture are comfortable and accessible. The room environment and toys offer children the freedom to choose between quiet play and active play. This environment and daily routines provide a solid foundation for all future relationships. We believe that early development from positive social and learning situations prepare your child to express feelings and negotiation skills in a positive light.

Daily routines such as feeding and diapering are part of the curriculum for infants and toddlers. Routines promote a close primary relationship with the caregivers. The teachers are then able to give the most responsive care to your child.

Meals, Nap, and Drop-off Details

Good-byes are a part of everyday life. When you leave your child in our care, or when a teacher leaves, we let even the youngest child know when, where, why, and who will be there to care for them when an adult is gone. This builds trust and communicates security and love. Teachers work very hard to greet each parent and student coming into the classroom, and the transition time from parent to teacher is an important one. We work hard to make sure that the transition is as calm as possible.
Infants and toddler meals are provided by the parents and are prepared in the room as this best accommodates individual eating habits. Food is kept refrigerated for the children who are not hungry at scheduled mealtimes. Our rooms for the toddler children have nonperishable snacks on hand for hungry growing times.

Diaper changing times are special times for the teacher and child as they connect with each other. The talking time during diaper changing helps the young child to be respectful during this back and forth exchange to gain understanding and trust.

Naps are scheduled for at least twice daily for infants and once for toddlers. Dedicated space for napping allows children to sleep
on schedule.
