What Makes Us Different
What Makes Us Different
A trusted, family-like community: students given the safety and continuity to flourish in an arena rarely seen in our fast-paced world.
We have become the only infant-toddler through 8th-grade Christian school in the Greater Bay Area to provide parents with a complete Christian education experience—an extension of their own home, offering Christ-centered spirituality as well as academic excellence. We believe in integrated communication skills that include writing, elocution skills, and group dynamics, along with character development, mentoring, service to the community, and physical fitness.
We realize you have many choices when it comes to educating your children. Here's what you'll find at CCS that makes us different than all the rest.
A familial bond embraces the students of CCS – providing them with the opportunity for long-term relationships with teachers and staff. By having students of all ages interact, learn, and work together on the same campus, teachers and staff have the pleasure of walking alongside our students during all stages of growth and development. Our compassionate teachers help students explore all of their God-given talents, and then stretch those areas that foster resiliency, adaptability, and tenaciousness. As students move from childhood to adolescence, our students are given the safety and confidence to discover and develop new talents and interests by engaging in a variety of electives. Our kindergarten through fifth graders attend library, art, music, physical education, and computer enrichment classes taught by specialized and highly qualified teachers. Our junior high students have the opportunity to select from 18-20 electives each year, which are reviewed annually.
We are a community that fosters effective communicators, servant leaders, and strong collaborators. Students learn the poise to speak publicly in chapel performances and group presentations. From the elementary buddy program to the National Junior Honor Society, our students develop leadership skills through mentoring and involvement in mission opportunities. All students participate in developmentally appropriate service projects to bless our school community, local area, and the world.
We are a well-established school with an eye on the future. Our school has been in existence since 1967 and has historically low staff turnover, creating a stable platform for innovation. We have over 300 iPads on campus, in addition to Chromebooks and computers, and were the first Christian school in the area with the infrastructure to support that level of technology integration. Our curriculum includes technology in an authentic way, building 21st century skills and balancing established, proven teaching practices with inquiry-driven critical thinking skills and project-based learning.
You might ask, “How would my student integrate into this environment?” Our school includes students who have grown up at CCS as well as students who joined our CCS family partway through their academic journey. A main tenant of our culture is ensuring each new family feels welcome. Students are encouraged to greet, meet, and assimilate new friendships, as well as to participate in cooperative learning and sharing of ideas. Because of this school culture, students and parents are able to build life-long relationships with others in our school community.
