Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten

CCS has offered a preschool program since its incorporation in 1967. The Preschool was founded to offer a safe, nurturing, family-like environment based on Christian principles to the parents of Silicon Valley. With over 40 years of excellence in education, parents can rest assured that our school is built on a firm foundation and distinguished lineage.

Our Preschool programs serve children in the following age groups:

  • Tiny Twos – from 2 years of age currently potty training.
  • Early Preschool – 2 to 3 years
  • Middle Preschool – 3 to 4 years
  • Pre-Kindergarten – 4 to 5 years
We are licensed for 116 students daily.

Philosophy

The Early Childhood Center Preschool is committed to educational excellence in conjunction with Christian values. We provide an active learning environment where children can be individually challenged, work together as a team and develop an enthusiasm for life-long learning.

A child’s spiritual well-being is cared for by teaching the love of God and an awareness of His faith in them. Children learn to develop a Christian world view in order to find their place in the world and learn how to relate to authority, family and peers.

Curriculum and Learning

Educational research shows that preschool aged-children learn best through hands-on experience with people, materials, events and ideas. An active participatory learning environment is an essential foundation for building the fundamental skills necessary for reading, writing and arithmetic.

CCS employs a Modified HighScope Curriculum as part of our preschool programs. The curriculum relies heavily on active, child-initiated learning experiences during which children plan, or express their intentions; carry out their intentions in play experiences; and then reflect on their accomplishments. Outcomes of such key active learning activities include the development of dispositions important to lifelong learning: initiative, curiosity, trust, confidence, independence and responsibility.
